Today’s guest on the weblog: Ramadan from Gaza.
Hi friend!
Am I important?
I have been looking for the meaning of the word important in the dictionary to find out that if its description fits me or not, as the question of am I important is irritating me. Oh my God, it is giving me words that are increasing the complications (valuable, significant), those are the two meanings that were given to me through searching the dictionary. Anyways, I decided to meet with some of the important people (powerful people) thinking that power means importance, and actually, I found out those people are not important at all and they are doing nothing except showing off there power to the others to scare them. As a result, other people are afraid to face this power so they call them important. Its really funny, how does it fit our natural personalities, and when is it seriously important for anyone to know things about themselves.
It’s a little bit philosophy, and part of it is logic. For me, I always thought that you should acquire your importance out of others and as much as they are depending on you, is as much as you are important. Actually, this is not right at all, as from my simple experience I found out that the importance is a treasure that comes from inside you. Once you start believing in yourself and acting accordingly, once you start understanding the meaning behind being important. I have went through a long distance into the way towards understanding myself , actually I got to this understanding through knowing the others.
In this concept there were key people into this way who really helped me improving my understanding of myself. Those key people do not know how important they were to me. From here, I started to get things cleared out and I have built up the rules of importance into myself and began to know that I am really important for myself and the success of me is the success of my, its not one else success. Then, I have evaluated my possibilities and limitations to act upon them, this also what makes you important, to say I don’t know is an important rule if you really don’t know and to say I know when you are really 100% sure of it not less. So, today I know very well now how much I am important to myself first and to others and I really am very aware of my limitations first and my possibilities second, and I know very well now that it is also important to seek others help. In this task I would love to ask my real friends (Anja, Joes, Khaled and Jan) who helped me very much into knowing myself and finding my way towards the real person who is important to himself.
Dear Ramadan, I agree with you very much. And we have seen very closely how you grew, how you developed into the responsable person that you have become, a leader.
I know what you are talking about, because like you I went through a phase when I thought I’m not important, it is our clients, students, the world, Palestine that is important, not me. Actually now I believe every person has an importance that is Godgiven. We have a duty to take the life and the talents that we were given seriously and then we will find out that there is no contradiction between taking ourselves seriously and taking other people seriously, it goes together. And by knowing of our own importance we can be an example for other people. Like you are doing. Remember the quote by Mandela? I will put it on again. Thanks Ramadan, for your thoughts.
