For everybody who is dear to me, voor iedereen die me dierbaar is, and especially for all my friends in Gaza: I’m moved to tears that you did think of sending me your Christmas wishes in the middle of your desperate situation.

We all wish for not only the Palestinians, but for anyone who is in need for safety, freedom and joy a wonderful, peaceful new year. And for people who are active and involved with the battle against poverty, war, inhumanity, occupation and corruption, I wish they will continue with the good work in the best health and with all the power of the world!
Ondanks alle narigheid kunnen we elkaar dankzij de computer nog bereiken.
Vanavond kon ik samen met mijn pleegdochter in de West-Bank, voor de webcam zingen.
Het bewoog me tot tranen!!
Maar waar zijn al mijn kinderen uit Gaza??
‘k Ben er van overtuigd dat we in gedachten verbonden zijn en samen terug denken aan de Kerstdagen die we samen in Beit-Jala mochten doorbrengen.
Hoe graag zou ik ze spreken maar ik weet niet waar ze zijn!

Moge deze dagen de laatste zijn die zo ‘gevierd’ moeten worden in Gaza. Moge 2009 een jaar worden met nieuwe kansen, herstel van leveranties van broodnodige zaken voor het levensonderhoud van de mensen daar. Ik kreeg een cadeautje in een kerstkaart. De helft ga ik zo overmaken voor Kifaia. Ja, het was een groot cadeau en ik ben er zo blij mee, maar het mooiste vind ik dat ik het kan delen. Ook al zie ik de mensen niet zelf, ik weet gewoon dat dit goed zit. Aai en kroel voor Kobus en Joséphine! De beste wensen en kracht en sterkte voor je familie in Gaza, maar net zo goed voor jou, Anja.

For some reason I believe that your wishes are touching my heart and giving us some light to live with. We thought for sometime that we lost the hope, but your wards are really meaningful and very supportive. It is the life we got used to but I think this life is not getting used to us. This life is not giving up and not understanding that we are not going to be defeated. We learned our lessons and now it’s very clear that we need to cry as it is the only think that we can do now to comfort us and our children. Thank you dear Anja and all our friends who think of us.

Ramadan, there is not much more I can do than occasionally send some money to Kifaia en think of you all in Gaza. Also, try to tell people about the real situation. Please, stay strong and do cry if you think that it will help to release some tension. More and more people in Europe are learning the real facts. And become more realistisch about what’s happening. I wish you all strength and courage. Easy said, hard to do, but I still wish it for you all.
