Duizend mensen protesteerden in Tel Aviv, zegt Gush Shalom.

Please find attached Gaza SITREP for the 28th of December 2008, with the overview below.
As part of operation “Cast Lead”: Israeli warplanes pounded the Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 183 people, including 3 senior Hamas officers, and injuring 390 people. Israel launched air strikes on Gaza for a second successive day of the “Operation Cast Lead” on Sunday in an unprecedented attack.
Although it was impossible to verify the figure of casualties, medical sources in Gaza indicated that at least 271 people had been killed and 900 wounded, bringing hospital services to the brink of collapse. Palestinian sources said the raids killed civilians, along with Hamas police and military officers when drones, helicopters and F-16 fighter jets carried out strikes throughout the day and into the night against at least 120 targets including police stations, military training camps, metal workshops, Hamas’ television station and several houses. Moreover, Israeli jets bombarded also a mosque in Gaza.
During one of the air strikes, 7 UNRWA students of Gaza Training Centre (GTC) were killed and 20 others were wounded including several in serious condition. In a separate air strike, an UNRWA area staff had been killed with his son and nephew.
The strikes caused widespread panic and confusion in the Gaza strip, as black clouds of smoke rose above the territory. Some of the Israeli missiles struck in densely populated areas as children were leaving school, and women rushed into the streets frantically looking for their children.
More than 44 HMR were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli targets during the reporting period. As a result of the barrages of rockets fired a 58-year-old was killed and five other Israelis sustained light to serious wounds after rockets hit a synagogue in Eshkol Regional Council as well as an apartment building in Netivot. Other media reports stated that Palestinian factions had fired some 70 rockets at Israeli targets during the reporting period..
